In 2001, disgruntled with its inability to realize its expansion dreams, ASC sold Sugarbush to Summit Ventures. Win Smith, Bob Ackland, and Adam Greshin are at the head of Summit Ventures, and would like to revitalize the ideals and ideas of original owners Damon and Sara Gadd and Jack Murphy. All three current owners have a true passion for Sugarbush, and want nothing but the best for the future of the resort. Summit Ventures has installed two new chairlifts to date; the first of which was a replacement for the aging Carlevario Savio Castlerock Double. The new Poma chair was installed based on the specifications of the original in an effort to maintain Castlerock's inimitable character. The other lift installation was a replacement of the slow Green Mountain Quad (now the Metro Quad at Jay Peak). The new detachable Green Mountain Express (Poma) follows the same line as the original from the base to mid-mountain terminating next to the Glen House, and operates at 1100 fpm carrying upwards of 2400 persons per hour (pph). Summit Ventures has also upgraded the snowmaking system further and has added to the groomer fleet. They have taken very serious steps in the direction of environmental friendliness by replacing some of the snowmaking nozzles with low-energy nozzles, and have bugun using bio-diesel in most diesel equipment. Other marked upgrades to the resort include Sugarbush Inn renovations and a new golf course irrigation system. The most recent--and most significant--improvement that Summit Ventures has made is the completion of the new Lincoln Peak Village. In December 2006 Lincoln Peak Village, a nearly $60 million capital project, opened to the public. New facilities include a 23000 square foot Gate House lodge replacing the original, a luxury hotel/condominium complex called Claybrook, a new guest services center (coming soon), Timbers restaurant, and more still to come! It appears that great things will continue to come of the SV years!
