According to contributor Mel Scott, this map is from the 1972-1973 season. His comments are as follows: "I'm betting this map is from 1972-73. I rented a share in a house on Pumkin Hill Road [now Vaughn Brown Road] off Rte 100 over Warren that year. This looks like the map I remember. It was the first year for the poma lift from the top of the Gatehouse chair. It was not a particularly snowy year, and I remember looking up at those two new trails and seeing nothing but brown rock most of the time. Although Birdland is on this map, it was already pretty much a memory in 1972. I never saw it opened that year, but I did see a few bushwhackers giving it an illegal try on occasion as I rode up the gondola. That year the lift tickets were $10, which we thought was outrageous (my season's pass was $215), and lift lines for the gondola on weekends were 45 minutes, which oddly enough we accepted, since lines for the main lift at Stowe were usually over an hour. Snow making was very limited, and for the most part it was a dirty word in our book. We much preferred the natural stuff, no matter how thin it was likely to be. Most of us had an old pair of "rock skis" in addition to our good pair (mine were Rosignol Strato 102's - Jean-Claude Killy's skis!), and the rock skis got most of the use during the season." Thanks Mel.
